I think it’s finally time to reveal formally a really exciting thing that Alex and I have been planning for some time now. We’ve shared the news with family and some friends here and there, we are so grateful for your ever important support.
So without further ado…
Spring – Summer 2022 we’re moving to Paris!!
That gives me jitters and flutters just seeing it typed out! I’ve had this 3 year build up of hopes to make it back to Paris, and it seems like a massive dream that our flight leaves in under 4 weeks!!
We’ll be gone late April through July before returning back to Utah! I served a church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 2017-2019, and while in France I absolutely fell in love with the french culture, people, language, food, art… basically everything. I remember walking the streets and smelling boulangeries before I’d see them. The floral markets were magical, and the people were confident and unique.
Alex and I will be leaving for my final photography internship in order for my BYU graduation to be completed this December. I’m beyond stoked to announce that my internship will take place with the very talented and absolutely inspiring Céline Chhuon.
Her photographic work reaches beyond business and connects to the very core of what being an artist is.
For the months we’ll be in Paris, I’ll also be working on my final Capstone Collection, a series of images that will be shown in a closing exhibition upon my return to the States. I don’t yet know what exactly I’ll be basing this series of imagery on, but I know it’ll have something to do with exploring femininity and masculinity in the art, society, and cultural norms we’re surrounded with.
Which brings me to this blog, which I’m sure you’re wondering why all the sudden I’m a blogger. I want to create a space where I can share images of my travels and time in Paris. Instagram and other social media accounts will still have some updates, but I feel like there is more intimacy in this space.
You’ll hear personal updates about how Alex and I are doing, what we’re up to, the beauties we’ll experience, and all the things you’d expect if we were to hop on a phone call.
This won’t be perfect, and it won’t have practical tips… it’ll be my real life and I want those who come here to feel that closeness.
So welcome to a little corner of our space, I’m so grateful for the support that has been shown as we’ve made plans to leave and chase this dream of ours. We’ll miss everyone dearly, so comment below and I’ll reply as we connect and bridge this physical distance.
January 4th, 2022. The tickets were officially booked and we could start preparing! To be honest, this whole plan has been a mix of going with our gut and taking the next right step.
Happy living mes amis!
