Wow, the last week at a close. This was the final week here in Paris; we headed out this morning bright and early at 4:30am for our plane to Nice, France. It was a very productive, creatively inspired, and busy week filled with photos!
The week kicked off with Sunday, a sweet day of rest. Monday all the action began!! We spent the day working in the morning, then headed out for a fun date night along the Seine. We ate at L’as du Falafel, as recommended by our aunt, Leah. 10/10 would re-recommend, thanks Leah!
We grabbed our paints, found a quiet spot of the river bank, and camped with our little blanket as we painted the sunset and enjoyed the sounds of Paris in the evening. I love seeing the boats go by, and the groups of friends gathered together. We ran home that night, listening to the new Vance Joy album, dancing down the lamp lit streets. Paris is the city for lovers.
Alex, me, Céline and her friend all drove up to Étretat in Normandy for a day of pictures and ocean air. Étretat is gorgeous. The bright blue water gives way to massive white cliffs topped with green grass hills. Alex and I were super lucky to be photographed by Céline, as we all wandered the cliffs and enjoyed the sun.
After doing a beautiful staged picnic on a cliff, we grabbed lunch at an amazing seafood place that had the BEST oysters. I think I could eat oysters every day for the rest of my life and be happy.
Aanother catch up day for work, groceries and cleaning. Thursday rolled around with the most amazing shoot. Maïle, one of my dear friends from Rennes came down to Paris and we did a photoshoot together that was so much fun! We had some French champetre details with a niçoise hat, and some beautiful Claudie Pierlot blouses. Nice camera images of this coming soon when I have some time to edit them!
Friday had a lot of action packed in such a short day. I met up with a cute couple for an in-home photoshoot at their balcony! It overlooks the streets of Paris, and was simply a stunning shoot altogether. I love working with real couples, it helps me relax as we work collaboratively to create photographs they want! I then was on my way home, and was notified that my second shoot of the day was delayed a little, so I messaged a friend of the couple to meet up right then, and another beautiful hour long shoot entailed! We shot at the Marché aux Fleurs, along the Seine, and at Pont neuf!
Afterwards, I met Céline to help with her “Men With Flowers” shoot that she did! It was a beautiful concept, and wonderful shoot. I was walking up the stairs to her apartment and it seemed like the higher up I climbed the more and more flowers I saw, until I finally reached her apartment. Her apartment is always filled with flowers like a secret garden!
That night Alex ran to a nearby Patisserie and brought home four different types of pastries for us to taste test while we watched a movie. The perfect way to end the night.
Saturday we finished with our last shoot of the internship. The theme was textures, and pleats. A wonderful designer lent us dresses and robes, and we just played with the wardrobe elements as we made images. Breathtaking.
That night we went into the center of Paris for one last painting date on the Seine. I love relaxing on the Seine and will miss it! We were on our way home at around 9:40pm when we passed the cinema. I’m not sure what go into us, but we checked the showing times for Top Gun, which was starting in 5 minutes!! So we ran in, Alex got like 4 kilos of candy, and we enjoyed the latest night out ever, watching the incredible film.
As much as I love France and will always have a big piece of my heart reserved here, sometimes I need a massive hot dog, popcorn with extra butter, and country music. This whole week, whenever I was walking to my shoots I had Morgan Wallen, Jon Pardi, and Brothers Osborne all on cue. This week felt like a very fast and powerful wrap with all these shoots and events! I feel grateful for my time here, and have no intention of forgetting these friendships, places nor memories.
So, the plan! This next month Alex and I have plans to relax along the south coast of France, into Italy, and finishing visiting Romania!
See you in the South of France!
Bisous, Alexa
