Paris fashion, nothing is quite like it. I lived abroad in France, Belgium and Luxembourg from 2017 to 2019 and absolutely fell in love with the European culture, specifically France. I miss those beautiful spring and summer days that are full of sun one moment and drenched with rain the next.
The first day I flew in to Paris was a rainy day in May. I ran through the streets of the city to a small church building near L’Église de Saint-Merri where I was volunteering as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The rainy days passed and the streets filled with all types of people making all sorts of fashion statements.
Summer came and trips into Paris consisted of flowy dresses and skirts paired with feminine shoes.
Riding the metro was my favorite during those hot summery days. The air would catch through the open metro window sending a flutter of wind across your face and through your skirt.
Some things will never change about Paris, like the familiar scent of boulangeries before you see them, or the ever flowing fashion. Its had an impressive mark left on my photographic style, dipping its toes into all things weddings, personal life, and life style. The thing about Parisienne life and fashion that I noticed is that confidence is key, trends are an expression of YOU not society, and that classics just simply never go out of style. So without further ado, un guide de mode français.
Nothing says “I’m unabashedly french” like Rouje Paris does!! With their famously chic dress silhouettes to their straight cut jeans, all the essentials and more can be found here. Founded be Jeanne Damas, the entire site fits the picnic-and-walk-around-Versailles-for-a-day vibe. The best items to invest here for your french wardrobe would be a classic floral wrap dress like this one here, a classic layering shirt like this one, these jeans for wearing with heels, and of course, their classic rouje lip palettes!
Known as the place for all the important essentials! One of the best tips in learning the French Parisienne Style is making sure that you have the basics down!! You want to cover your bases so that adding on additional statement pieces flow cohesively with the rest of your wardrobe.
Here I’d suggest making sure that you have your classic jeans, white and black T’s, cute neutral shoes for any outfit, and linen items!
Oh Mango, how I love you!! This was one of the stores that I saw in every mall in France. I look to it to see where the fashion world is heading and they always have such great items year round! They specialize in the comfortable yet elegant aspect of fashion, while still spicing things up with color and print.
The best items here for your Parisienne Wardrobe would be their strappy sandaled shoes, classic blouses, elegant black dresses, and their chic statement outerwear!
Lastly but never least, And Other Stories. A true ode to being feminine and organic! They offer beautiful and hassle-free garments that are made to last (ring ring ring, the MOST important part of the Paris style!!). Their gold earrings are elegant and simple. These denim shorts by them are a must!! And their blouse selection ranges from playful and girly to clean and natural.
