Your wedding photography experience can be as exciting and beautiful as your wedding imagery! It all starts with what to do right when you’re engaged. This is the wedding photography timeline you need to know in order to feel confident!
First of all, a huge huge congratulations to you! Being engaged is such a fun and unique stage of life! The excitement of your future with your significant other finally sets in, you begin planning all the hopeful possibilities!

When you start wedding planning, overwhelm can start to creep in. I’ve seen lots of couples express anxiety over securing their wedding photography and getting the wedding details squared away. You don’t have to be worried! This is a tried and true wedding photography timeline you need to know right at engagement!

Begin gathering inspiration! Define what you want in your wedding, the types of imagery you’re drawn to, and possible aesthetics you love.

This is a great time to start the inquiry and consultation phase for engagement photos. Depending on the season, a 1-3 month lead is ample time to find a good date . Engagement session images are completed and ready to be delivered as early as 2 weeks after the session, giving you a quick turn around time.
These are 15-30 minute video calls that help us see if we’re a good fit together! We’ll talk about your overall vision, plan engagements, and discuss wedding day coverage. I love going over specifically what type of imagery you’re hoping for, and what you can expect from me on your wedding team!

When it comes to securing photography for your wedding date, a rule of thumb is to inquire sooner than later if you’re wanting to make sure we’re a part of your wedding day. Typically 6 months to 1 year before is a great amount of time. May-October tend to be busier months in the season, so booking sooner can help secure your date.
While you’re planning your wedding, I’ll be prepping by studying your venue & any details we discussed! We’ll keep in touch via email on timeline details and shot lists. 1 month before the wedding date we’ll hop on a final call to make sure everything is fine-tuned for how the photography flow will go for the day!
With this wedding photography timeline, you’re prepared and ready to make sure that all your photography needs for the day are ready for you in a way that feels supportive, intentional, and organized.
