November 2021, Alex and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary with a special party that we’d been dreaming up for a while! A Ditto Gala!!
The preparation was as fun as the evening itself: planning the menu, making my dress, designing and sending out invitations, and photographing the details afterwards!
DITTO GALA NOV 2021
We started planning the event about 6 months out, and quickly made a guest list and started on designing the inspiration for the event. The look was a classic magnolia, sleek black tie.
We gathered the most beautiful envelope liners that had a stunning watercolor floral arrangement, white wax, gold thread, vellum paper, handmade envelopes, and vintage postage!
I designed the invitations, and got them printed at BYU Print and Mail, and one night with a sparkling lemonade drink, Alex and I assembled and addressed each letter to our guests! We loved having a hands-on experience with making the invitations. Our guest count was intimate so being able to physically make and address each invite felt extra special.
Next came making my dress! I’ve always had a love for sewing, so with some inspiration from the wedding world, I added this large back bow and separated cape to a black tie event dress I’d been saving!
Makeup prep was fun! I tested out my makeup, and my friend Em did my nails! Kept everything simple and polished! The next day was the Ditto Gala, and I had a long list of to-do’s. Starting with the food.
Red
Ginger beer, concord grape juice, rosemary garnish.
Paired with a prosciutto wrap of ricotta and raspberry preserves
White
Sparkling grapefruit soda, blackberry, peppercorns
Paired with smoked salmon, dill and dijon mustard cream cheese atop a cucumber.
Dessert
Coffee-free Tiramisu
Our guests came, all dressed to the nines, and we had a blast! Alex and I did a vow renewal, and danced to “I’m With You” by Vance Joy… our song! We did a Martinelli Pour, and mingled sipping on drinks and munching on hor d’oeuvres.
All in all, a wonderful way to celebrate a life together of love, fun, good memories and being surrounded by those we love most.
The sweetest keepsakes from this anniversary are these two images of our details. I shot them on a 4×5″ large format camera, hand developed them, printed and matted them! They now hang on our walls as fine art reminders to make our life one worth celebrating.
Oh how I love photography and how it echos moments we’ve lived.
Cheers to love!
Bisous, Alexa Ditto
